What is hybrid?

A hybrid vehicle uses both a gasoline engine and an electric motor to move the vehicle. The battery is charged through the engine and regenerative braking, so a conventional hybrid does not need to be plugged in.

For a buyer, the main benefit is reduced fuel use in everyday driving, especially in stop-and-go traffic where the electric motor can assist more often. Hybrids can also feel smoother at low speeds because the electric motor delivers power immediately.

Honda uses hybrid technology in several vehicles to improve efficiency without changing the basic refueling routine. Honda hybrid models are designed to operate like familiar gasoline vehicles while adding electric assistance where it is most useful.
